SWIM (500 yards) – Triathlon
500 yard swim (20 lengths in a 25 yard outdoor pool), up to 4 people per lane (circle swim). Pool will be heated to 78-80 degrees. WETSUITS ARE NOT ALLOWED! Volunteer lap counters provided by the Moscow Chinook Masters Swim Club. Changing room and rest rooms will be available at pool.Swim heats will begin at 7:00 am and will be spaced 20-30 minutes apart. There will be a short warm up between heats. Swimmers will be seeded according to 500 yard times reported on the registration form. Heat seeding will be emailed prior to the race and posted at packet pick-up the night before and on race day. Plan to arrive at least 30 minutes before your heat for body numbering. |
Duathlon run #1 (2.5K)
A 2.5K run out and back on pavement through residential streets and pedestrian/bike paths. Volunteers will manage traffic at intersections. The roads will not be closed to traffic – RUNNERS MUST BE AWARE AND RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR OWN SAFETY!

TRANSITION #1 (T1)
After the swim, you will be directed out of the pool area into the swim to bike transition area. Locker rooms are available for changing (no public nudity!). Running or riding your bike in the transition area is not permitted. Do not mount your bike until you reach the street. You should be fully ready to race, with your helmet strapped, before getting on your bike. Personal nutrients and hydration are permitted on the bike; there are no aid stations on the bike course. BIKE (15K)

Out and back paved course with gentle hills on Mountain View, West Twin and Idlers Rest Roads. A Snell/ANSI helmet must be worn. Chin straps must be fastened prior to mounting and remain fastened until dismounting. Police will manage traffic at Mountain View and D Street. Volunteers from the Moscow Central Lions Club will manage traffic at all other intersections. The roads will not be closed to traffic – CYCLISTS MUST BE AWARE AND RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR OWN SAFETY! There will be no water/aid stations on the bike course. DRAFTING IS NOT ALLOWED! CUTTING CORNERS IS NOT ALLOWED! Traffic laws must be obeyed at all times. Cyclists must stay to the right and ride with traffic. Race officials will monitor the bike course; rule infractions will result in time penalties. It is the responsibility of the cyclist to know the rules – see USAT RULES for complete details. |
TRANSITION #2 (T2)
At the end of the bike leg, you will dismount at the cones and be directed into the bike to run transition. A volunteer will rack your bike. You will be responsible for grabbing your run bag. Chairs will be available for changing shoes. Your bib number must clearly visible as you leave T2. There is an aid station at the exit of T2. RUN (5K)

A 5K loop on pavement with one good hill through residential streets and pedestrian/bike paths. Volunteers will manage traffic at intersections. The roads will not be closed to traffic – RUNNERS MUST BE AWARE AND RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR OWN SAFETY! There will be water/restroom stations at T2, mile 1 and mile 2 (approximately), and at the finish area. |
